From here continue north through Maria-Theresien-Straße.

The main street – Maria-Theresien-Straße

Landscape format; In the foreground a water well, people sitting around it. Left and right rows of houses; in the middle the Anna's column; in the background mountains (Nordkette); it's a warm and sunny day in September 2022

The one feature that makes Innsbruck special is the 2.000 m high wall at the end of the street. Where else do you get that combination of a downtown with the mountains at hands’ reach?

Stroll through the old town at your own pace. Enjoy the old houses. Most of them are between 500 and 600 years old. Eventually climb the city tower and take a look from above.

When standing in front of the Golden Roof turn left and walk some 200 m to the west until you reach the river. Do not cross the river but walk left along its banks. Another 200 m further you’ll enjoy another great view:

Colourful houses with mountains

landscape format; row of coloured houses along the river; in the background snow capped mountains, blue sky

The number one photo point. No visitor may leave without having taken that photo. Hopefully you have nice weather, too.
