New Friend in Innsbruck
My husband and I had a wonderful time with Michl in Innsbruck. She showed us all around Innsbruck and explained its history, showed us the important sites to see and answered any questions we had about what it is like to live and work in Austria.
This was our first experience with the international greeters program however it will not be our last. Michl made us feel like we have a new friend in Innsbruck, Austria. This is a wonderful program and we are so happy we found it. Thank you.

Great Greeters
With our friendly greeter we had a very relaxed and informative walk in and around Innsbruck . A good mixture of information about Innsbruck as you walk around and also sharing a few personal stories back and forth between each other. Rudi provided some valuable tips on local dining etc, which we followed for a brilliant “local” dining experience.
Tip – ideally book your Greeter experience early in your stay at a town/city – that gives you time to enjoy their local dining/entertainment suggestions.

An interesting way to start finding out about Innsbruck
An Innsbruck Greeter was a great way to find out a bit more about this city. Silvia was easily contactable and available to us as planned. She showed us around the oldest part of the city (less touristy) and told us about the history. She also took us to the market and explained about local foods.
I think it might be better if you knew what you were most interested in before you did this walk (because it’s not a guided tour it’s just a walk with someone who knows the area) , but it’s hard to know when you haven’t been somewhere before!

Amazing experience!
Rudi met us at our hotel and spent a wonderful 3 hours with us and showed us Innsbruck from the Olympic ski jump to the funicular station and we were able to see and experience more of Innsbruck than we could have ever expected.

Chicago greeter discovers Innsbruck
Looks like this is the month of greeters’ visits to Innsbruck. After Tallinn and Freiburg we welcomed a fellow greeter from Chicago.
With Margaret we visited the best distillery in town for a genuine Schnaps tasting.

Wolfgang is the manager of the greeters in Freiburg, Germany. Of course, whenever a greeter travels she or he is looking out for fellow greeters at their destination.
Together with the local greeter Rudi Wolfgang and his wife Angela walked through southern quarters of Innsbruck and finished in the “corner of the four beasts” as that place in the old town is called. It got its name from the fact that at this spot you are surrounded by four taverns named after animals.
